They are likely professional telemarketing fundraisers that are calling in the name the Fraternal Order of Police. Check this link out: http://www.stopjunkcalls.com/2006pennies.pdf
Note the percentage of the amount that goes to the charity is on average about 25% only. Most of the money you give goes to the telemarketing. I just don't answer the call.
Telemarketing = SCAM
Although it came up on caller ID as "NY FOP" (New York Fraternal Order of Police), he was claiming to be a Windows technician that needed to get into our computer remotely and "fix" a virus. Apparently, he forgot which scam he was working!
I got a call from this # only after I got locked up in a pop up on my computer saying I must call a 877-***-**** number that I didn't write down so I call it to just see who it was and they pretended to be with Micro Soft and were going to repair my computer. When I wanted to know who they where and ware they were located they hung up on me. I have 5 phone lines in my office and they called me 2 days later on that specific line I called them on! Now giving me a line of BS that they needed to repair my computer as they had done once before, BS!
They again hung up on me. Scammers!!!
