Thanks for your note; they called me on my cell today ~10:18 am; I called back from a land line and to hear that "call cannot be completed as dialed" =must be a scammer(s). Caller ID said the call was from Fairborn, Ohio. Didn't leave a message. I'm blocking the #.
I couldn't agree more. I called Verizon and spoke to several different people both in store and at their CS Dept. They all say no we don't give out your number. You must have done that. Um, no I don't give ANYONE online or otherwise my number. Only people that have is friends and family. They all have different providers and not get as many or if any calls like we do with Verizon. I am fed up. I have had 3 calls from 2 different calls (2 of the same with in the hour).
Received call earlier this week from this. Same lines about entering a draw..when I said I was pretty sure I hadn't filled one out, he said that i could have possibly filled out entry at Walmart (I don't even shop there), said he was from Royal Vacations, same bits earlier mentioned about a cruise or a land trip, I could pick up at Independence, Ohio office, Indian(?) accent, could tell he was reading from a script.
I asked what was the catch...no catch but really..I didn't fill anything out. I thought it was really suspicious. I don't even think I told them my name. He said his manager would call back. I had a voice mail but there was no message left. I tried to call the number. Got a busy signal.
So weird...
Or possibly they are using a computer to dial all the phone numbers in a given area code, something commonly done by criminals whether they be debt collectors, IRS or other Federal Agent imposters, or telemarketers. If your area code was xxx, and your exchange was zzz, and if you set the computer to dial every number from xxx-zzz-0000 to xxx-zzz-9999 do you think your phone number would be in that group? Of course it would, and they try multiple times per day, week, and month, whatever to maximize the chance that they will get to talk to someone in order to steal money from you. They know that repeated calls get to be annoying. That is why your best defense on a cell phone is to block the number using built in technology or to download a free call blocking app.
Just got a call on my cell. I answered it promptly but nobody was there. I tried dialing the number back but it was a non working number. I'm also in the Cleveland area, perhaps they are targeting Ohio numbers?
