RE: Continuing Harassing Phone Calls
Dear Ms Collier:
I request you CEASE and DESIST any and all phone calls to my home phone number (937) XXXXXXX! I have explained several times over the past two (2) years to your firm or your known corresponding firm(s), I do not want the Dayton Daily News.
The originating phone calls from (937) 458-2071 have passed from the normal threshold of wasted Verizon Cell Phone Minutes into the realm of total and complete harassment. Currently, two (2) calls per week! Examples of these annoying calls took place on the following dates:
A call at 4:40 P.M. on 3/19/2014 (while I was eating supper) and a second call at 12:39 P.M. on 3/20/2014. Since I have purchased a cell phone conversation recorder; both of these phone calls have been recorded.
In the past, I have had Verizon “Block” this number. However, Verizon can only block the phone numbers for three (3) months. In turn, the calls start again! So, Enough is Enough! What more do you want of me? I’ve explained several times to your agents, I DO NOT WANT THE DAYTON DAILY NEWS! I’ve tried to block your phone number, and I am on the Federal “do not call” list.
I’m sure your legal staff will agree non-compliance with this request could put your company in serious legal trouble with the FTC and other state or federal agencies. Under the FCRA and the FDCPA, each violation is subject to a $1000 fine, payable to me.
You are hereby instructed to cease any efforts to use my phone number immediately or face legal sanctions under applicable federal and state law. Any further attempts by your firm or known corresponding firm(s) will constitute a willful violation of the FDCPA and immediate action will be taken to remedy these violations.
GIVE THIS LETTER THE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION IT DESERVES.
This is Dayton Daily News. Not a good way to drum up business with annoying calls
and not identifying themselves. Considered renewing my subscription but this turned me off.
I made the mistake of ordering the paper because of the charitable contribution that was attached to the subscription. When the period was over, within days I received a call asking to renew. I advised them no I was not interested and advised why I did it, I was then continually asked if I was sure and would I reconsider at this "great" rate. I finally told them emphatically no and she got the idea and let it go.
My other mistake was that I didn't tell them to remove me from their call list. Guess what started yesterday? Now I will have to take one more call from them so I can stop this nonsense again.
Call was from Cox Media Group (Dayton Daily News). I cancelled my subscription to the Dayton Daily News on Monday 28 July (I had Thursday and Sunday delivery). Cancelled because of poor delivery service. In the last three months I had called over 10 times to complain about non-receipt of either the Thursday or Sunday paper. Finally got fed up with it because the Dayton Daily News did nothing to resolve the problem and so I cancelled the subscription. On Wednesday, July 30 they had the nerve to call me and tried to sell me a subscription. Told the Customer Representative I had just cancelled the subscription two days before so why would I want to subscribe again. Told her that under no circumstances would I ever subscribe to this paper ever again because if you have a delivery problem management personnel will do nothing to resolve it. I guess these people do not understand that if you have a dissatisfied customer and do nothing to address their concerns, you are going to lose customers.
