Ok, so at first I thought it was my Obachan ( Japanese grandmother) but then by what she said I knew it was not my Obacha. She ased for my mother by first name, my mom wasnt home. she asked "when will be the bast time to call?" I responded "I don't know." so she then replied with "Okay I will call back later."
Next time she calls I'm just going to answer it and begin speaking Japanese, that would mess her up SOO BAD hahaha.
I have had several similar calls, so I don't answer the area code any more. I looked up just the area code along with area code 123, and both are reported to be originating from Africa, which just has scams written all over it, so I simply don't answer my phone. It can make people I know a little cranky that I won't answer and just call back, but it's much better than having a scammer verify that there is a person at this number!
Now I am getting calls from the same number that says that I have been selected to get a scholarship and now I won a trip, but they need my credit card information and I have qualify for a loan up to 10,000 dollars. After I stop laughing, then I politely told them that they had without a doubt the wrong person. No one in their right or left mind would give me anything romotely free.
Came up on caller ID as ASIA PACIFIC and a woman with an Indian accent said she was calling from the Green Energy Corportation. I told her to please remove me from her list and hung up.
You have to say "Please remove me from your list" and by law they are supposed to do so, but you have to say those exact words or it won't work. Do this with any telemarketer that you don't want to talk to. Keep track of the company and # and if they call back you can report them to the Better Business Bureau and they can be fined like $20,000. I have a friend who works in telemarketing so that's how I know this. It has worked for me so far! Good luck!!
