If you have an answering machine, you can outfox these predators. Record Special Information Tones (see the attached url to hear them) at the beginning of your outgoing message. This tells anyone using an autodialer that the number is out of service. A real person won't care, but then they have to listen to you tell them off. I've used these tones for the past few years and the number of telemarketing calls has dropped. I sincerely hope it helps other people to avoid these pests.
I'm in BC. Call received about 1 pm. I picked up because I do know a couple of people in Oregon. But after I answered, the pause told me it was a computer-dialed call, and I quickly hung up.

Didn't answer when we picked up the phone!!!! Most annoying when one is busy, busy and then a phone
ring that has nobody answering!!! What a waste of time and energy - we seniors have no time for this
nonsense and donot have energy for this either!!! Please tie these people up somehow to leave the
public at peace!!!!!!
