Many of the disposable numbers come from Pacific Telecom Communications Group and they are currently under investigation and in the midst of various lawsuits. (The principles involved have been part of actions by the FCC under other business names). These businesses have ripped people off for millions of dollars, yet have paid only a couple of thousand dollars in fines. The only way to stop them is to throw them in prison for a few years to make this criminal activity less attractive.
The Oregon Public Utilities Commission has revoked Pacific Telecom's certificate to provide telecom services in Oregon.
The Indiana Attorney General’s Office filed lawsuits against:
Consumer Credit Group and Proactive Planning Solutions of Arizona for violating Indiana’s Do Not Call Law and Auto-Dialer Act known as the robo-call law. Both companies violated the Credit Service Organization Act and Deceptive Consumer Sales Act by not obtaining $25,000 surety bonds with the state and collecting money upfront without performing any services.
Debt Zero of California for collecting money up front, failing to provide services or a refund and operating without a $25,000 surety bond.
Clear One Advantage of Maryland and Credit Arbitrators of Texas for violating the Credit Service Organization Act and the Deceptive Consumer Sales Act by not obtaining the required surety bonds.

FTC is sending refund checks to 4,468 consumers “who allegedly were defrauded by a telemarketer who used robocalls (prerecorded voice messages) to pitch worthless credit card rate reduction programs for an up-front fee.”

They aren't going to stop. All they are, are criminals out to steal your credit card information.
never ever give out personal or financial information over the phone. Period. Report to the appropriate authorities and warn others. All it takes is one fool to fall prey to this scam and it keeps them in business. Please folks take the time to warn others and let people know of this scam.
Blocking numbers is useless. They will use another. Report to DNCL. All fake spoof numbers. Caller Id always financial CTR, lower interest rate, card services etc. Always same robo call. Do not press any number just ignore and report.
Working in my basement and had to come down off ladder to answer this call. When I realized what it was, I immediately pressed "1" to speak to someone. After a short hold with music playing a female answered and asked if I wanted to sign up for the lower interest and I told her "No, what I want is for you to stop calling me".
She hung up without saying another word and I know I didn't acomplish a thing except the satisfaction of wasting a few minutes of her time! I get several calls a day like this: some wanting to lower my interest, some wanting to "give" me a security system, and some wanting to sell me an extended warranty on my car. I am so sick of these unwanted calls. I have tried to block them but have not had much luck.
I have had two calls today, one from 971-220-1951, then just now, 971-220-1784. I'm sure they are related... never leave a message, just keep calling and bothering me.!!!
Same old scam msg to lower interest rates.
Thought that that fancy new consumer protection agency was supposed to protect people again scum like this. Apparently they are too busy engaging in empire building to be bothered with doing their job.
