Just got a call from this number on my backup cell phone, and it is the same Caller ID that called me yesterday 20 hours and 50 minutes ago on my main cell phone. The area code is the same, but the exchange portion of the numbers is completely different, none of the digits are the same. I have had this backup number for more than 5 years, and have NEVER given the number to anyone so it should never get any calls at all. Well, I use it to call my father who does not have Caller ID, to use up the minutes. The cell phone was turned off; it began "ringing" and vibrating until I pressed a button. I had to turn it on to see the information.
Therefore, this is a robo-call from a dialer that calls random numbers to try to get a response.
This cell phone is an old candy-bar phone, not a smart-phone, so all I could do is select the "end call" option that starts the voice mail up. No message was left.
People who get spam text messages can forward the text message to SPAM. We have nothing equivalent for most voice calls, particularly for land line phones, to notify our telecom provider the call is unwanted.
