Called at 6:00pm on my landline in Vancouver B.C. Left no message.

Called and left no message. Caller ID was 49-201-185-9170.  What is the 49 for?

Phone rang one and a half times - one full ring, second ring quit halfway.
When I picked up the handset, I heard a dialtone.

While (201) is an area code in New Jersey, there is no "185" exchange in any area code in the USA or in Canada. I consider the phone number spoofed.

CallerID says "Out of area".  No message left.  If this was a legitimate business, they would leave a message.  Since they didn't, I can only assume they are criminals running a scam.  I'm on the "Do Not Call List", for what that is worth.  Criminals do not pay any attention to the DNC list.
