The caller knew my name and identified herself as representing some organization which dealt with energy. She had a foreign accent which made it difficult to understand exactly what she meant, but she insisted it wasn't a sales call, and that it would involve only answering two questions.
#1: Do I still live in New Jersey. My answer: Yes.
#2: Is it correct that your total assets, including savings and property, are worth in excess of one million dollars? My answer: Wrong. She rephrased her question in a way to make me admit I was worth over a million. I repeated my answer: Wrong.
She thanked me and ended the call. A few minutes later I tried calling back to see exactly who had any business asking about my net worth (and figuring that my answer to #2 should have been "None of your business"). I got a "disconnected or no longer in service" recording.
I wonder what would have happened had I answered "yes" to #2.
