why do people call numbers that they don't know. i answer calls from people i know, and not from phone numbers i am not familiar with.

A female recording told me that my name had been picked from a draw held by Zellers, Walmart or Sears and that I'd won $2600.00 for an all inclusive trip for two to Cancun.  It went on to describe the trip "all meals included", etc and that I would be able to purchase another package for a friend(s).  When the recording said "press 9 to accept offer" I hung up.  Spiel lasts about 2-3 minutes

Caller ID said National One.  Did not answer as I did not recognize this number.
