The caller ID was private so I let it roll to my voice mail and it was a robotic voice saying there was a tax fraud against my name and I could be jailed etc... I hope they are put in jail.
Called them back with my number blocked. Basically sounds like a distinct African accent, claims they are the treasury department. So, asked for the name of the supervisor, and his employee number, which he gave me as a three digit number and two letters. Hardly enough space for the full breadth of employees the US government employs. So I said that number didn't seem right and asked for the number on his "CIF card" and he rattled off a five digit number. I wish we only had 100k government employees. I mention I was an agent and we were investigating IRS fraud. They stuck to their story. You can hear the other people in the boileroom operation in the background. Not all running the same scam it seems. Odd thing for the US Treasury Department. So I was bored and got some information. Maybe next time I'll say I am with the IT department and direct them to a site to fix their computer.... call type needs scam in the list.
