Call was a special offer from PNC bank. If you call it back it gives you the option of entering your phone number to have it removed from their "special offers" calling list.
She said she was from PNC Bank and was inquiring about a credit card that was supposedly sent out to us. We do not have PNC cards. I said that I would let me know that she called when I got in. :)
PNC bank is headquartered in PA. "201" is a NJ area code. This, however, is apparently a legitimate PNC number. Simple solution though to get off LEGITIMATE call lists... Call PNC (or whatever company) directly & then ask to be removed from their call list.
I too received multiple calls from this number for 4 days straight and finally decided to call PNC bank directly to see if this number was legit. Again, it apparently is.
According to "Do Not Call", if you've done business with a company, they can still call you.
Also according to "Do Not Call", however, even if you've had an account (with PNC or whomever) they're still supposed to maintain and honor "internal do-not call lists". In other words, if you as a customer request not to be solicited - they're required to honor that request.
With all the phone scams out there - NEVER - provide information to an unsolicited, "cold caller". If the company calling is legit though, look up their contact info. & call them. That is how to respond.
