Anyone ever been stalked before? I know that sounds kind of funny but... if you've ever been stalked, for real, these constant phone calls instill a similar feeling. I wish some lawyerly type would use that angle to put the kibosh on telemarketing. I've been lucky enough to have not one but two people stalk me. Tons of calls, texts and emails. Even had to call the police. One of these stalkers lives in Jersey, area code 201. So, seeing this number repeatedly gave me heart palpitations. Thank god for websites like this so i know it's not stalker #1... it's stalker #3 - Conde Nast! ARRRRGH!
The problem with going through these kind of subscription companies, rather than the actual magazine itself to renew is, they call long before your subscription has run out, knowing most people don't keep up with such things, and extend your subscription yet another 5 years, when you have 4 years left on the original subscription. They will even call again in another year, and have you subscribed for roughly 15 years if you don't keep up with it yourself. And you can say that's not their fault, that you should keep up with your own business...but until magazine companies started letting these 3rd party [***] renew their subscriptions, there was never such a problem, because the actual magazine company would not do such a thing! Besides, no-one should have to keep up with magazine subscription expiration's so closely anyways!
These places make their calls via the Internet, so they pay nothing for calls. The recipient may incur a charge if it is onto their cell phone since it uses their minutes.
