A woman claimed to be calling form Scholastic Funding Corp. asked me to help her fill in the missing information, which was my social security number. Any lender would have this information already, so if you get a call from this company, do not give them any information, as they are a fraud.
I also received a call from a woman noting the same information, that she was from the Scholastic something corp. She said she was with the federal department of education and that, being that I'm a college student (I made the mistake of telling her) am qualified to get reduced rates on my loans. She verified my address, name, and home number and needed my federal loan account number which she said is the same as my social security number to finalize the transaction. I was uncomfortable with giving my ss# but she reassured me that this message was recorded by the department of education and that we both would be transferred to them. I still wasn't comfortable so I asked her for a number and name so that I could call her back. She gave me the same number (201) 266-0092 said when asked for a name, said a name real quick that sounded Cair (rhymes with air), said she'll try back tomorrow, and hung up real quick before i could say anything. BE AWARE!
