I just received a call from that number stating they are calling from Google and that our listing was about to expire. Push 1 if you are the owner. Well in what company does the owner normally answer the phone? I hung up.
Nice job Julie!!! You just gave every scammer on the Internet all your vital information. Don't you think the scammers read these boards too? You're number of scammer calls will probably increase by tenfold. Good luck you going to need it.
Guys, this is not "Google". It's a company that does some sort of SEO or pay-per-click or whatever. Calling Google to complain about them is about is useful as throwing rocks at the ocean because you got bit by a fish once.
These guys are class A scumbags however -- two times now I've gotten them on the phone and they only want to hear two things: you are the owner, you have a valid credit card. They will not identify themselves, they are under orders to not say who they really are (and each time, I started off trying to be reasonable and acting curious, but no go, they pretend to not hear you).
If you have VOIP phone: MOST providers enable you to block numbers, either through a user interface you can access and use, or via customer service. Just add them to your list of blocked callers, but do file a complaint on them at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
Got a call from 201-283-9034 Caller ID said Kearney, NJ - we are a business so I answered the call and identified our name and "click" they hun up on me. We are in Hawaii so I am sure it was a scammer!
