he is truly a scam artist. DO NOT GIVE TO HIM. VETERANS FOUNDATION WOULD HAVE SEVERAL MEMBERS/VOLUNTEERS CALLING. HE IS A ONE MAN SCAM BAND. LIVES IN A 1/2 MILLION DOLLAR HOME. HMMM EASY MONEY I SAY JEFF. SHOULD BE LOCKED UP. HIS DAY IS COMING.HIS NAME IS JEFF STEWART-AT LEAST THATS WHAT HE SAYS. TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS. CALLS SEVERAL TIMES WEEKLY EVEN WHEN I TELL HIM TO STOP IT.. NO SHAME IN HIS GAME
i received the call - am legally blind so cannot always tell who is calling. He said he was calling for the American Veterans Foundation (that's close) and wanted to know if I would promise to send $15 - then he would send a postage paid envelope. I told him that, although we do give to help our Veterans, i am not familiar with his organization and would check him out. Still pressed for a pledge which I did not affirm. Call ended. I am on a do not call list - supposedly -- and I have a limited time 65plus hone plan. Really cannot afford these calls eating my time. Anyone ever heard of American Veteran's Foundation?
Have seen 3 of these calls in the past 2 weeks; I don't pick up unidentified phone numbers, so I let the machine get it the one time I was home. No message left.
Got a call from this number today at 1312 hrs. Initially, there was nothing, then a weird 'bloop' sound and then some guy (I assume it was a real guy) started saying he was calling about veterans. Considering how many scams are out there, I just hung up as he was saying something about "for quality control reasons, this call may be recorded." Recording a conversation for "quality control" when you're looking for a donation? Seemed weird and suspicious. But, then again, every call seems suspicious to me these days because the DNC list has prevented nearly all legitimate companies from calling, leaving "surveys", nonprofit calls, and scam artists. And the scammers outnumber the legitimate DNC-exempt calls by far.
