They're back!!!!! This telephone number, allegedly from Texas, has been operating on and off for ages.
Furthermore, I believe, it's currently now operating in conjunction with the telephone number 1-191-739-8300, which has only recently appeared and become the subject of complaints. (Note: 191 would be an Area Code for a few areas within the UK. As such, the number making rounds throughout this country is also a spoofed telephone number.)
These people are scam artists and/or telemarketers, and they're hoping you'll call them back and, ultimately, provide your personal, sensitive information. Please don't respond...ever.
annoying call daily to my cell. I do not answer this call & waste my $ (cost me 0.30 per min). I do not carry my phone with me at home. Only use cell for my emergency calls. They are wasting their time.
I've been receiving these calls daily on my cell for about a month now. It's costing me 0.39 everytime they call. I recently added my cell number to the Canadian National Do Not Call list and the National Do Not Call List in the U.S. I live in Canada and this appears to be a U.S. number. The NAMP shows this number originates in San Antonio Texas.
I'm speaking for three people. Two of us it's just been our cell phones but the third person has the calls on all the office numbers and his cell.
It's like some kind of scam/crime syndicate with so many different stories of who's making the calls. We've all been getting the "you captain...." version and they get a hang up at that point.
If you pick up the phone they sell (pass around) your number as a "live" target - this prompts many other spammers to call your number.
The number displayed is probably not even the number (but an auto-dialer machine) that called your number.
These are exactly the same scum that email your in basket full of total useless junk.
Your only way is to buy a callblocking telephone or service

BELL TELUS & the other companies are responsible for these aggravations due to their poor system software & lack of looking out for their customers.
