Did a reverse look-up -they faked the caller id number-a NJ. Pizza place. Business loan scammer - pressed 1 and gave them a long sharp blow of a whistle.
I've been called 4 times in the past few days. Last call was 6/5/2015 around 10:30am. The caller left no message so I called back and was prompted to press 1 for "Do not call." Very weird. I googled (201) 312-6893 and chose this site to find out more. I recently switched my phone from Sprint to AT&T. Perhaps I need to update my privacy settings to op-out of their sharing my information with third parties. That may or may not be a factor but anyway it's worth a try. Thanks for the support everyone! I was able to get details I needed. :)
Registering with the Do Not Call list will not help. The scammers who are calling you are criminals, so they have no problem with breaking the law by ignoring the DNC list. For those who are wondering how the scammers got you phone number, the odds are that they didn't get it from anyone. Often they just pick an area code and a 3 digit prefix and start dialing random numbers in that area. The only solution is to block the number that your phone says they are calling from. That will work until they decide to spoof another number, at which point you will need to block them again.
