The number called then hung up before I could answer. I called back and it was a recording from something garbled, it sounded like "Very Import Tubs" then said to leave a message if I wanted to hear back from them or push 9 to remove myself from their calling list.
I didn't pick up the phone because I didn't recognize the number (201-334-9162). I did a search for this number out of suspicion because this number was calling frequently. The same caller, V Mark, was calling me with a different number (1-817-764-2864) last week. My AT&T call block automated service said I was not able to use call block for these numbers. Does anyone who has been getting these calls use Visa for your PayPal account? I'm trying to find out the source of the leak of private information.
I answered the phone with "Thanks for calling {fake company name}, how can I direct your call".
Caller asked for me by name. I responded that there is nobody working here by that name. They asked again and I responded that this is a business and there is nobody working here by that name. Caller hung up.
I've been receiving these calls for over a week and have ignored them all until today.
The person from this no. called and stated the same information about my cc# and I could get a free gas card. I said you called my place of employment and she was very rude and said this is the no. you have as a contact you should not put it on there if you don't want to be called. I am just doing my job.
So I received the same call. Spoke to an elderly gentlemen who said as "A Preferred Visa Card customer" they would like to offer me a $50 gas card if I would hold the line someone would verify my current address. Instead, that person tried to sell me a bunch of crap - but of course - she spoke faster than an auctioneer. When I slowed her down and asked how much the "shipping" was she told me $3.99 for this item and $4.99 for that item. (it was for discount airline tickets/discounts at Best Buy/some facial product...etc.) When I told her I did not want it. She continued with ...it will be billed to your account and if you want to call to cancel the membership you can but you still get the extra $50 gas card - now equaling $100 in gas....I repeated myself very slowly and said I DO NOT WANT IT. She snapped back that she heard me and that I do not need to talk to her like she is a child. I laughed and hung up. However, after giving it some thought, I called my credit card company and we are monitoring my charges. I also had written down one of the numbers she rattled off (I speak fast too!) it was to Direct Discount Club. I googled them and called - found their website www.savingsdiscount.com and than called at 877-807-2392 - when I waited on the line it disconnected so I called back and pressed 1. I actually got a girl named Jen. I told her that I did not have a membership number however, I received a call and wanted to ensure that I would not be billed for these items. She asked when I was called and I told her 10 minutes ago. She said I would have to wait 3 days before anything would hit her computer..........So that is where I am........hopefully this helps someone else!!!
I've received the same call twice today- did not pick up. The only connection I cna make is that I joined reunion.com late week. Maybe they are the "preferred" custoerm for this V Mark company.
