Had a call with lady with heavy accent telling me of warnings, errors, and my PC will crash unless she's allowed to assist with correctional prompts - was sure this was a fraud but allowed her to continue knowing I would not be taken in. She had me to go to RUN and in the blank space type " eventvwr " and then click on applications to view red errors and yellow warnings. At this point ask for her name and telephone number to verify who she was and who is her employer, she hung up . . . .
We are a small dental office in rural Minnesota, we contract with an IT department that specializes in dental offices about 20 minutes away and we know every person that works at that IT group. Today, a man with a thick middle eastern/Indian accent named "John" said our computer had a virus and he was calling from our I.T. support to fix it. I laughed out loud at him when he said this, he asked why I thought I.T. was so funny, I told him "You are obviously not our I.T. support, take my phone number off you call list", he then got mouthy with me and said I was "making him cry by thinking I.T. is funny". I said, "I don't think I.T. is funny, I think it's funny that you're trying to pass for my I.T. department when clearly, you are not" He then told me to "look in a mirror" because I was "so hurtful".
I continued to laugh at him and I said, "I know for a fact you are not affiliated with my I.T. department, you are trying to scam people and you are the one that needs to look in a mirror" and I promptly hung up on him and filed a complaint with the FCC:
