Calls every day asking to be contacted at an 866 number associated with collections for Sallie Mae. Calls are borderline harassing and at times get close to being outside legal hours. They never give a company name or why they are calling. I tracked down what they are doing via the 866 number given for call back. They have not sent any documentation on any debt, the origins of said debt, or documentation to respond with a dispute to the validity of said debt... this being illegal. They must, by law, send the documentation within 5 days of first contact attempt.
The number that they are requesting me to call is 866 807 9090. They are also calling cellular devices what is illegal as well.
Received a call from this number and they said I owe on a federal private student loan. I explained I've submitted my loan consolidation application and she said that this is a private loan and will not qualify for consolidation. I don't remember ever getting a private student loan. I am looking into it further. She offered me a settlement amount (for a fraction of the balance), and demanded it be paid within 3 days. Hmmm?
