call from a man saying my windows computer is infected. He tells me that my computer is sending reports of an infection in my computer to windows and they can help me with this problem. I ask which computer, I have 4 of them.. He tells me just to hurry up and go turn one of them on. He's very hard to understand, the english is bad and the call comes in and out. In the background I can hear multiple calls going on. I told him I'd call him back to see what he'd do. He gave me the number and when I asked his name he told me "Sam".

Educational post:
You may have been exposed to scam # 3, as described here:
http://phonehelp.2truth.com/facts_rev.html
Remember to return here, to 800notes.com, after you look at any of the information at that site, either to post more information, or to let us know you avoided the scam, or to read any further information about that number that others may post.
File a fraudulent use charge with the way you paid (credit/bank). THEN run your own virus/malware scam. The thief may had added spyware to your unit and shut off your firewall & virus protection. IF you had banking information & a contact list keep a very close eye on them too - you might want to contact the credit monitoring companies. You never know what these thieves will try!
Got a call from them too. Called unknown number and told me they were from windows tech dept and that my Windows 10 was infected. I said I had antivirus software and they said that keylogger was on my computer and my computer was affected by hackers. I asked them to give me their number and they gave me this number. I said I would call them back after I did some background investigation on their company. They hung up the phone on me.
