A lady called and claimed that I have a not collected debt with citibank. I just opened an account with them a month ago so it can't be true. The woman had my name and address. This is scary...
I keep receiving calls from this number. The first time they tried telling me I have an account in collections. When I asked for the name of the company I owed money to they told me they were unable to provide it. I explained they weren't getting a penny until I found out who it was for and to send the paperwork ( I never verified my information or address-no one asked). It's been over 2 months and I still haven't received anything and still get calls once a week. Every time I pick up or it goes to voicemail they hang up. If you try calling this number back it just says it can't go through.
I got a call asking for my wife, i took the call and got connected with a Teresa. They claimed my wife had a very high outstanding balance with Captital One. Unfortinatly my cellphone cut her out before i could get more information. The question i asked before i got cut out was "When was this balance started", which i got no reply.
Just so you know, technically if you are not on your wife's account it is illegal for them to tell you ANYTHING about the account! No matter how small, and they should have had you verify who you were first. If they told you anything they broke the law!!! I would report them!
