They appear to be are a law firm out of New Jersey (Liberty Mortgage or something like that I think). they are associated somehow with NMHC (National Morgage Help Center) - you've probably seen the ads on tv. I called one of the two numbers (1-800-437-6159 and 1-800-786-1627) listed on the screen (they had two different # on same ad!), and I questioned person answering the phone about the discrepancy in two numbers, and she put me on hold, so I hung up anyway - I didn't need any help - just was curious about why/how two different numbers on same ad. A few minutes later, I received a call from 1-201-546-5443 (caller id just says "law offices"). I told them (before they even had a chance to say anything... "did I ask you to call back. No. I have a unlisted number, and if you call back again, I will have you and your firm arrested, and then I hung up - no other calls after that. Not even sure if they are under any HUD jurisdiction, however, but their ads look professional, but that doesn't mean they are. Don't waste your time on these companies. If you need mortgage help, go first to your bank or credit union or whatever lender you have. Then, if no help, go to www.hud.gov for accurate, legitimate secure information.
Keep getting calls from this number. I have my phone greeting and msging disabled however after 4 or 5 rings it will answer and from this number there is a msg playing (womans voice) which I have only heard in the background and have no clue what she is rambling about and then after 3-4 seconds the phone dumps the call. The id is -law offices - which may or may not be true. I have investigated refi and loan modification however that has ran its course thru the lender, servicer, and fannie mae and I see no need to pursue other issues so I'm in the frame of mind that these guys are possibly fishing for work and got my number from some hot sheet or Fannie Mae source and want money to perform some mortgage service not really sure and not interested in talking to them. I may call back sometime and update them as to my level of interest in their services but as a last resort to make them go away. It seems as though this unsoliciated call level has increased and not sure what loopholes these people have found to be such pest. Phone companies should allow you to customize your received calls and maybe then some of this would stop, doesnt appear the FCC has any muscle or desire to flex it.
