Got scammed about two weeks ago by heavily Indian/[***]? accented male claiming to be "Roger Williams".
Got three suspicious calls today by male w/ very similar voice, probably the same scammer. The first call today he said he was "Harris Thomas" calling from Windows Technical Department. I promptly hung up. Moments later, the phone rang again, same voice, said he was (forgot name used) calling from Moneygram about a refund - said the money from the (first scam) to a Harris Royden in India was never picked up and they want to refund it to me. Also said that since the transfer was to India that it might affect my Soc Sec #, (another indication that this was a scam!!) I said fine send me a check. No, no we will transfer it(I of course knew he would next be asking me to go to my computer) so I cussed him out and hung up. BUT the phone rang a THIRD time and this time he said he was the (fictitious) Harris Royden(supposedly a supervisor at Moneygram), At this point I was starting to laugh, (the lengths these scammers go to!) He was also offering a refund but that I would have to put up a $300 security fee in order to receive it.(Another indication of scam! Real companies do not do business in this fashion.) I ended up telling him off again and hanging up. On all three calls today I asked to speak to a supervisor, or a co-worker but mr. scammer-pants was apparently the only one in the office.  I thought I'd heard the last of this two weeks ago. I did report the email address he had given me at that earlier time to the company that gave it out, it was one of those free emails you can get, and I did hear today in an email from that company that they have closed that account. One minor insignificant victory against these vile criminal scammers.  There is really no way to tell whether this scammer was actually calling from New Jersey, as I suppose it's not very difficult to call from India or anywhere, and somehow make it appear as though the call originates from NJ? Probably easily done through VOIP, or VOIP to a stateside landline connection via another criminal collaborator with access to other phone lines.
