This is some type of scam. They state that a lawsuit has been filed against your social security number and they are going to sue you if you dont pay. I have been receiving these type of phone calls since I applied for a pay day loan on moneymutual.com. Somehow they get your information. They told me that I took out an electronic pay day loan for 300.00 - 400.00 (never a specific amount) and that I owe 8000.00 dollars to the "Americas Pay day loan" This is just one story over the past six month's I have been given at least one hundred different scenerio. I did get the chance to keep one of the guys on the phone one time in a "cursing fight" and he explained to me that they are in India, he confirmed they are a scam and that there is nothing that can be done to them since they are not in the US. They use some google phone app that you can scammble your caller ID number or temporarily use, The most I have seen them use the same number is for a week and then they normally change it. I don think this is truly a real threat since they do need your account or card information in order to actually get money from you. What bothers me most though is that these people REALLY have your information. They can quote you your full social, address, date of birth and etc....I just hope that they dont figure out a way to use that info. This is a big time scam and i am so glad someone post this thread. I have been so eager to to find others who are experiencing the same frustrations. Something needs to be done about this real soon. These guys brag that they are ripping american people out of 15k -20k a night with these threats and scams. Double negative with our current economy.

"Somehow they get your information" because you gave it away in your application, which was sold off to criminals. Anything they don't know can be unearthed from the same databases US debt collectors use for skip tracing.

I received a phone calls from this number for the last week on a daily basis,( our caller id showed one number that they called from as a pay phone! ) and they have actually called my work place.  They claimed that I owed a pay day loan, which was totally false, I have never applied for a payday loan.  There were threats of arrest for internet fraud, theft by deception, etc. Scared the daylights out of me because they actually had my personal information! A friend suggested that I google the number, and the name of the person I spoke with, which was Amy Jones, Eric Jones, and Kevin Peterson,( all of these had very thick Indian accents ) and it came up as a scam! They stated they were filing charges against me, and the police would come to my work & arrest me.  I told this "Kevin" that any information he had was obtained fraudulently,  and when he stated he had all the information that I had faxed him, I outright called him a liar, and
told him that any further calls from him would be considered harassment, and that I would take appropriate steps to sue him & or his "associates".  He hung up. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office in my state.
