Who called from 2016063436

Well, I've been on hold for 45 minutes so far.  Apparently they don't even expect idiots who want their service to press "1" to talk to one of their "friendly" (their word) agents.  Heck I'd type the exact phrase but I forgot in all that time.

Yeah, they start out with this severe "last warning" fear-tactic nonsense making one feel as if you are late on your credit cards (I don't even have one) and eventually something about 6.5% and only if over your balance is over $3K.

I'm merely sitting on this line, so I can get their company name and location, so I can fill out the BBB complaint form.  At least the hold music (on my speaker phone) isn't too annoying.  I hope this call is costing them money.  I have to leave in a while, I think I'll leave it connected.

As other people have mentioned, Phone Tray free zaps all the annoying calls that I get. One thing I did that made this really convenient was using a very old computer that had just enough resources to run Phone Tray on Windows xp. I put this in a out of the way location where I could run my phone line to the modem and then ran a KVM switch to my main computer and the old computer so I could use the same keyboard, video, and mouse for both computers. I leave the old computer on all the time to catch the unwanted calls and just use the main computer as needed. I was ready to purchase one of the phone screening devices, but as it turned out I had every thing I needed. All I had to do was a lot of googling and read a lot of posts from all you good folks so I could set every thing up and stop all the harassment from the annoying calls. This system blocks ANY calls, not just the 20 blocked calls that my phone service allowed, which everyone knows is not enough. People should not have to go through this much effort to keep from being annoyed!

I agree NOBODY should have to go thru this. I have even asked them for their home phone where I can call them at 3 AM. LOL I have been getting various calls thru different numbers from these people for about four years. I now have turned off my answering machine and have phones on night mode (bar one) from 6 to 9. It seemed to have worked for awhile. I wanted them to think number no longer worked. Now they are back at it. Really thinking about just disconnecting home phone. Sooo sad.

Thank heaven for Phone Tray free. I usually only get these calls twice per number shown on CallerID. After the first call, I set up said number in Phone Tray free to be automatically answered after one ring, and to play the "Disconnected" message - multiple tones, then "We're sorry, the number you have dialed is disconnected..." Sounds just like the message from the phone company (or at least what that message sounded like years ago - it's been awhile since I've called a non-working number.) The second time these scammers call my number from the same CallerID number, they hear this message, and apparently remove my number from their list because they usually don't call back. This set up must work; I don't get nearly the number of calls that I see some people on here complaining about - I only get a handful a month.

methinks this number, like the recent robocalls from 214-283-1316 and 434-236-4020, are actually medical debt collectors, despite the card services robocall affiliations mentioned here. The donotcall list is a joke to medical debt collectors, as is the FDCPA, CanSpam Act and lots of other federal and state laws. Two+ years ago I refused to pay a medical bill supported by altered electronic medical records--and altering medical records has been illegal in Virginia for years and nationwide since the HiTech Act of 2009. Robocall schenanigans with "card services" started soon after I persisted to get a human, who turned out to work for a company owned by people previously sanctioned by the FTC, and who told me the company doesn't have to comply with the FDCPA so long as it names its medical provider partner. Turns out, the FTC delegated jurisdiction of all medical debt collection matters to HHS's Office of Civil Rights, which basically does nothing. When I complained, I even got a guy from the HHS OIG who refused to give his name but admitted electronic medical record alteration goes on all the time (though its illegal) and blamed nonenforcement on Republicans zero-budgeting the HHS OCR. Which seems just another runaround.

My health insurer brags of political clout in all regulatory agencies--fed, MD and VA among others, so it doesn't have to follow the law, and can hire people like this to do some of their dirtier work. Or maybe this is just a psy op, for both the "privacy officers" delegated authority by the company, HHS and state regulators told me that they "always win" and advised my only alternative was to get other insurance, while assuring me that all insurers do the same thing--which in my case also includes diagnosing me with a medical condition just after I joined (which becomes a preexisting condition and impedes switching), then not treating it according to accepted standards and finally putting a false diagnosis date, which happened to be the date on a letter to their California, Maryland and Virginia offices which they never replied to (and continue to insist they never received). Go figure.

Oh, yeah, and they ratified the politically connected hospital system's double billing practices and promised retaliation if I complained. That also seems to have happened, although the only "law enforcement" response was a phone call on the day I delivered a package to Senator Grassley. The guy claimed to be a capital police officer, chewed me out for writing Grassley and wanted to discuss specifics by phone, but refused to give me a phone number I could confirm his law enforcement status (and of course refused my offer to meet face2face).
