They keep calling saying there is a warrant out for my arrest and they will come to my place of work. Been at work every day since they called, nothing. I wonder how many people really fall for this. I keep them on the line just for fun sometimes. As they read me the "affidavit" I research the company they say they are representing. When they are done, I reply with "So [company name] has filed a lawsuit against me? That sounds pretty serious. Especially since I have never gotten a payday loan from them, and their website says they do NOT hire third parties, they have their own in-house collection service. They ask me for my SSN....I tell them that nothing is really secure in this society anymore. They ask my address....I tell them it's approximately 24.6 [Street Name], The house owners let me park my RV in their driveway. They start telling me this is not a joke, the US Marshals are coming for me. Seriously? I tell them that I'll say hello, since I work for the NSA and have done a few jobs with the Marshals tracking fraudulent collection efforts in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting and Collecting Act of 1979. At this point they hang up and don't call back. Also, If they say they are recording the conversation, tell them that since it is an important legal matter, you will be doing the same....sometimes thisgets them right off the bat.
