I have received multiple calls and a couple of voicemails from this number. Today I answered, and just like the voicemails it's just weird sounds. I have blocked the number now.
We haven't been a Charter customer in years because we moved out of town, and this phone call brought back memories.
A lady started off asking if this was the residence of ___ and ___. I asked who's asking, and she went on to tell me she's so and so from Charter Communications and had some promotions to offer me. She then continued to advertise their phone service, telling me about the features, etc. got to the price, saw that I was paying X amount for internet, etc. She kept stumbling over her words and even had to put me on hold to "speak with her supervisor" to figure out what to say next. Then it dawned on me that when Charter calls, it's NEVER from a 201 area code (always an 800 number) and I don't recall them ever trying to push sales on me unless I called them first. Also, the account is under my husband's name alone, not the both of us. I also remembered that we used to get calls all the time from another more aggressive lady the moment we fell behind on the bills and she would try to get us to pay over the phone. Charter would never chase us down to get money; they'd just cut us off until we paid them.
So to finally get to the point, yes, I agree this is a scam. Kinda surprising/not surprising that after all these years Charter still allows these people tho hack their system and scam their customers.
