I received a phone call this afternoon from 201-677-8715 and the person claiming to be a PSE&G supervisor tells me that my service was pending disconnect in one hour !
He claimed I had not paid $300+ for November (for which I haven't even received the bill)
This all sounded fishy because I know I am current... so I asked him to confirm the account # that he was talking about. He said get your bill and read me the account # and I will confirm... I got my bill and as I was about to give him my account #... it just dawned on me that this is not how it works... so I told him that it is supposed to work the other way around... you are supposed to give me the account # and I am supposed to confirm... he said you have to come down to our office and make a payment today before 4pm (he called @3:30pm) or he has a technician ready to come out and disconnect me in 1 hour.
I said... can you first confirm the account # we are talking about... and at that point he hung up...
I called back right away and no one picked up... it did go to a voicemail and the voice mail says... "Thank you for calling PSE&G... you have reached the direct line of David Wallace... Please leave me a message"...

It is a little past 6:00pm now and I called the number again and the same person picked up and greeted "thank you for calling PSE&G"... I asked who am I speaking to... he said "this is PSE&G sir"... I said "... but you must have a name... " and at that point he hung up...

Certainly looks like a scam using PSE&G name...

I received a similar phone call  today. He stated his name but I didn't hear it clearly. He stated my service would be disconnected in 45 minutes unless I go to an address (which I didn't write down) or address this issue over the phone. He somehow knew my first and last name. I knew my payment was current and informed him of that but his claim was there was some error with PSEG system and the payment didn't go through or a financial institution error. I told him the payment has gone through then he says I would receive a refund and I need to come down and make a payment within 45 minutes then I told him I would call PSEG and speak to a customer service representative to take care of it while making a payment online. I called PSEG customer service and they confirmed I am current and the call was more likely a scam.

just happened to me too. called about my business said they were PSE&G.. told me to go buy a money card and i had ten minutes or else. total scam
