I made the mistake of asking for quotes for my medicare health insurance online. And when I say mistake, I MEAN MISTAKE!!!! These people have called my number CONTINUOUSLY since Sunday. They have called at least 20 times a day. They call, I don't answer, they hang up and IMMEDIATELY call back. This morning ALONE, within one hour, they have called my phone 10 times!! STOP FREAKING CALLING MY NUMBER!!!
I got a call from these people and was discussing health insurance plans when my phone dropped the call. The guy called me back and left a very rude message about how he wasn't going to sell me a plan and that I should have fun paying for those other plans that "I have seen for over $200". He also called me "salty", lol!
Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information, or visit Amazon or similar sales site.
If you cannot use or afford to buy such a tool, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.
• Another option, for both smart and "dumb" cell phones: Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT. Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers. That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact! You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number! (This is also called "whitelisting").
If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

Yes and yes again! If these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!! Identity theft is very serious and you should never ever give anyone your information over the phone that cold calls you!
