I got the same call just now while sitting at my computer, so I quick google'd the number and it lead me straight here. I answered anyway while searching just to give a listen (was hoping it was a Charter rep to yell at) but sure enough, it was the same recorded message (and badly recorded at that) telling me my ATM card was cancelled and I should press 1 to blahblahblah. Hope this frauder gets arrested.
201-820-3996 is a fake messsage! I signed up for YouMail.com and assigned that number to a message file that will make it sound like my cell fone is disconnected. This is also great to stop bill collectors! My friend did this and it worked!! It is free!
I got a call from this number earlier today. Since I didn't recognize it, I let it go to voice mail. It was a recording so the first part was cut off. The only part of the message I got was "due to fraud we suspended your ATM card, please press 1 to be transferred to our security department to reactivate your account." This set off red flags because it's similar to those recordings that say something is wrong with your credit card and then want to ask for your security information. In the past, I had some legit fraud activity at another bank and it was a security rep that called me direct from the bank, no recording, clearly identified himself and talked with me a while before even telling me what was wrong, so I knew this couldn't be legit.
I called my bank and confirmed that there was no problem with my account and the call itself was what's fraudulent. There has been a rash of calls like this recently and they will be sending out a warning to their customers.
If anyone provided information to this caller, you should contact your bank immediately to protect your account.
Just got a call from this number, but did not answer. I called the number back. The number belongs to a company called Liquidity Solutions. He noted he's received a ton of these calls today. He claims someone is spoofing their caller ID, and trying to scam people. This is fraud.
