I just had them contact me today about a motorcycle I have posted on CL. So I left them know that I did a reverse number search and found out that the number is connected with scams also I will only accept payment in person and cash only. Have not heard back from them since.
Replied to my CL ad and I knew in an instant that it was a scam. They always start their inquiry with "what is your lowest price?". So I replied back " sorry you must be one of them" , and in an instant a reply came back "I am ok with the price . I will send a check via PayPal . I just need your name, etc. so I can deposit the money. I am off shore and will have movers pick up , etc etc" I replied again "sure, send check to FBI and pick up item at the White House . Password for the gate to open is "I am a special scammer, no speak English ". This scam artist is relentless! Keeps coming back with how to open a Paypal acct. are there robot scammers !
Same thing literally just happened to me with a phone I was selling. Unfortunately I wasn't smart eenough to realize it was a fake. Name: Ikechukwu Jones...
Address: # 134 Zik Avenue Uwani...
State: Enugu-State...
City: Enugu...
Zipcode: 23442...
Country: Nigeria... that's the address and crap she game me.
That is correct. It IS a CRAIGSLIST SCAMMER going by the name of Monica Jones. This time she was in Colorado offshore. Oh, but she's an honorable woman. HA! #5 - The oldest scam in the book is where the scammer sends you MORE money than you asked for. They will then apologize and say that they made a mistake but if you could please just wire the balance to their “shipping agent” through Western Union they will arrange a pickup. You do this, then the scammer files a charge-back with Pay Pal saying their account has been hacked, and that they never intended to send you any money. Pay Pal then turns around and debits the money from your account. This one really puts the SUCKERstamp one your forehead because now what happened is that you just sent the merchandise PLUS your own money to the scammer using another fake name through Western Union. How will you EVER live that down? Oh, wait…fortunately you read this article and you wont get stung! You are now SMART instead of STUNG!
That is exactly how mine started out. Fortunately I am smart enought to not fall for it. I received 2 checks from this person (people) and they said it was an accident from their secretary. Yeah, whatever. I never cashed them. I actually reported it as an internet scam (this happened about 6 months ago) and never heard anything back. Don't fall for it....
I wish I had read this sooner.... like two or three days sooner this low life POS just got me for a phone.. I feel so stupid but then again I've never ever ever sold anything to anyone in my life. I thought it looked just like a PayPal account but it wasnt. They got my phone and 60 I had to pay for shipping.
