I also received a call stating he (with a dialect) was with the Department of Treasury in Washington DC claiming I "won" a $7500.grant/bonus. I too did not further the call ...
I received a call from 202-110-0014 showed on my caller id it was from District of Columbia. Man with an indian accent told me I was chosen to receive a $7000. grant. said he was calling from the Federal Treasury dept in Washington DC said that no criminal history and taxes have been paid up to date, and that since I file income tax every year I will receive this $7000 he kept saying he was calling from the Federal Dept of treasury and I asked him " so you are a government employee who works for the Federal Dept of Treasury" he got very angry asked me why I asked him that, he didn't give me an answer and I explained to him that it's not every day I get a call saying I have $7000.00 ready to be just handed to me. I knew the call was bogus as soon as my caller id showed it was from D.O.C. He told me if I don't believe him go to the Federal website and check out for myself. I asked him to provide that web address and he hung up on me.
