A foreign speaking man, I could barely understand, said my computer has a virus and he was there to help. My elderly sister got such a call not long ago and sent money. I told her at the time it was a scam. Why would someone from the district of Columbia call me about my computer? I get these scam calls a lot. What is the best way to handle them.
I received a phone call from this number and since I do business regularly with people in Washington, D.C. (area code 202) I attempted to answer the call. The caller didn't speak but I heard noise on the other end of the line. I said hello a few times and then hung up. I've seen several other posts that it's someone posing as an IT person with a foreign accent. How did this individual get my number?
