I recently got a call from the number 214-382-9091 saying they were with an attorneys office and stating that I had a file against me for a payday loan from 2008 and that if I didn't pay $1230 to them they were going to turn the case over to the attorney and proceed with prosecution for prison and jail time. I asked him if he wanted my attorney information and he stated that it was not his job to contact my attorney but if I wanted to settle with him that this could be avoided. I asked him for his name and number so I could have my attorney contact him and he gave me Jim Piech with a phone number of 202-204-8085 which is registered to a Kubiak and Associates, which I cannot find anywhere. The phone number the call came from is totally different than the number he gave me. 214 area code is Dallas Texas and 202 is Washington D.C....not even close to each other...I called my attorney and gave her number.
I got a missed call from this number and a voicemail. The message was from a Jim Peach calling from AJR Court Services. Stated that I had 72 hours to call back or I was going to be served with papers. I called back and questioned Jim about the info he had on me and most of it was wrong. He said I took out a payday loan in 2007. I questioned him about the company name... Then it changed to Kubiak and Associates. What happened to AJR??? I asked for an email from the company and they sent a poorly typed word document. I then did my homework and found no trace of either company on the internet. This is pretty much a scam. They try to scare you with prison and jail time.
