202-222-2222 Called me today and hung up after a couple of rings. When I answered the line was dead. ad. I guess "it" was doing a search for anyone who will answer. I hope my delayed reaction has saved me from future calls. I know I should not answer, but it's so tempting when I think it might be about a job. Now I am convinced that if I answer these weird repeating digit, unknown numbers they will keep calling me back. Luckily, my cell phone's "ignore" button works.
a man with an accent keeps calling and says he is from the government will not tell me what he wants

me and tell me what to do plus I have a unlisted phone number and don't know where he got it.
junemarie, call your phone service provider and have them block the calls and file a complaint with them on this number for harassment. Then do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
Google your name and phone number also, any place that shows up such as Spokeo, make them remove it. Seriously, there are a lot of places that show up online with your info. As a rule though, these creeps use dialers or computers and just plumb numbers in and those machines do not recognize unlisted numbers. There's also these articles you should read.
I have received several calls from 202-222-2222 and when I finally answered it, the guy (very nice but could barely understand) asked for me (said my name) and told me I would be receiving a check in the mail within 10-12 days and I would not have to pay it back nor did I owe anything to get it. Told me I could use it anyway I wanted to. questioned he asked was "are you a US Citizen?, are you between the ages of __ and __" (I can't remember the numbers), finally I hung up.
I told the man he had the Wong number to stop calling. He told me to [***] OFF. Now if this was a reputable company he would have been fired. He should be.
202-222-2222. I called it back it said it was directory assistance powered by AT&T. If I was AT&T I would be upset that someone was using my company's name and acting like that.
