This is the Washington DC offices of Congressman Doug Collins, Ga. who was calling. It is the general call out number for members of Congress or their representatives, it is not a call back number for a specific Congressmen.
Here's the deal.... A call from the House goes through a general switchboard... If you try to call the number back it comes up "nonworking number at the House of Representatives" If you received a call from 202-226-9928 someone in the House of Reps has tried to call you... It is not a scam... It just that all calls from the House of Reps regardless of the office go through the general switchboard... Working in a newsroom I receive calls from 202-226-9928 all the time...
I too tried to call it back and got "You have reached a nonworking number at the US House of Representatives". I had sent an email to my rep requesting a tour of the capitol building and whitehouse during a trip to DC I am planning in October. It was probably in response to that, but wish they would email me the details or leave a message!
Try calling your representative again. They should have requested an email address from you already. If you haven't submitted the background info they need it could be too late. I'm also going in October and when they called to request my info...he basically I'm at the cusp of being too late to submit.
This is from the US House of Representatives. I had called to inquire about a Capitol tour and this is the return phone call. It is a generic number for the Capitol. No scam or anything like that.
