I got a call from this number, SEVERAL times at my place of employment. I have been getting very HARASSING calls at work, for the last 6-9 months. I have had several different people, names, and "companies" calling me from all different states. They claim to be "investigators" or "lawyers" from CashNet. They always claim that if I do not send them some money that same day, that I will go to jail. They say they are going to "process" it at the end of the day and that someone will come up to my place of employment and arrest me.
I did take a payday loan, but that was all the way back in 2008, and it is now 2010. I offer to set up a payment plan, and they tell me that I cannot do that. They tell me no checks, cash, or money orders will be accepted, only account to account transfers. This seems very fishy to me. They are always very rude. I ask for account numbers, badge numbers, or company names, and they always "beat around" giving me such information. I know that it is illegal for them to KEEP calling my job making these threats. They have even asked to talk to my supervisor, gotten nasty with our receptionist, and even went as far as getting my mother's number and called her house. Please beware that these practices are illegal. I know this is not right, but I am unsure of how to make it stop. I can end up getting in trouble at work because of HOW MUCH they call. Any advice would be well appreciated. Thank you.

These people keep calling my number as well. They try all kinds of scare tactics to get you to pay. they will not give proof of the debt, so I really don't even know what it's for. I don't know the company they claim I owe money to. This is what happens when debts get sold numerous times. It could be from 10 years ago and they are still trying to collect. I don't have a problem paying if I truelly owe the money, but I don't know for sure and I'm not just going to give ramdom people my account info. I've had identity theft before and it is terriable to try to fix the problem.
As to the harrassing calls and threats, they can not do anything they claim they can. No one will come to your job and arrest you. It's nothing but lies to scare people who don't know better into giving them their account info. The only thing they can do is continuously call (which is still harassment, but they don't care).
My advise to you is to just laugh in their faces. Don't get angry and yell or call names--they get off on that sort of thing. Or, better yet, keep calling them and harass them. See how they like it.
I've got a hunting whistle that is very loud and shrill and it's kind of fun to blow it in the phone when they won't leave me alone.
