I keep getting calls saying I owe taxes. They give you a name of a person at a desk. I re-dailed the number and this guy answered saying with an accent saying he was from the IRS. I told him I do not owe taxes. He said then you will have to take legal action. Caller ID said Washing DC

SLR, don't even tell them you do, or do not, owe taxes... don't say anything personal at all! Stop picking up the phone for this scam number... please!
I knew it would either be a scam call or a political recording, because 202 is Washington, D.C.... but I was bored, and answered. A really very poor-quality robocall recording with a male voice who gave a muffled name like Williams or something, supposedly from internal audit at the IRS. I tried to push the right button to get a person so I could laugh at them, but it didn't work. It was inappropriate of me to even answer, but I just got a wild hair and answered, I normally just ignore and add an entry at this website. REMEMBER, FOLKS: the IRS will never never never contact you by phone!!! Pity those who fall victim to such an obvious, well-publicized scam.
