Got several calls from this number after filling out a payday loan info request on line. They offered me a $1500 loan in 24 hours but told me I have to prove that I have enough money to make the first payment (not due until about 3 weeks out). They told me to buy a Green Dot card, scratch off and give them the code on the back of the card so they could "verify". I challenged them on this and the guy (Mr. Martin) said that they would only verify this amount and that I would then have the $164 to use immediately on the Green Dot card. He claimed to represent A1 Cash Advance but their website showed them to be in Memphis. His call came from a Washington DC phone number which checks out to be one of those plug in Magic Jack cards. No answer on the call, only voice mail - very poor quality digitized audio that was breaking up/jittery constantly. He told me that they were required to verify that I had enough funds according to FTC regulations (which, of course, there are NONE!). I told him I wanted to think about it more and that I would look into getting the Green Dot card. He agreed to put my loan application "on hold" until the next day. Googled his number and found multiple instances of complaints. When he called me back (and he has TWICE now even though I told him that I was no longer interested in doing business with his company. This looked and sounded fishy from the get-go and I didn't fall for the "you have to buy a prepaid credit card" scam.
