Steve Parker from Federal Investigations Division called and said there was a federal case in an Indian accent
I see other reports that this is a scam number.
I received that call too! I knew something seemed fishy. He was very agressive and kept asking if my husband was home and that he was under criminal investigation with the IRS. The accent and the modified voice sound was another clue for me. Oh and the callback number without an extension, yeah right that is not professional. Anyhow, I decided to google the phone number and came across this post. Whoa, thank goodness. Okay so I called the number back to share with this guy that I know that he's a scam. He answered the phone and I quickly said, hey don't ever call my phone again, don't you dare ever call with this scam! Hey quickly talked over me and said "[***] you" and hung up. Lol

A man with what appeared to be an Indian accent left two messages on my answering machine. The first was a lot of heavy breathing and talking to someone else, and the next I could barely understand. I just kept picking up on "criminal investigation" , and "Mr. Cody". I am female so...
From what I could tell they were telling me that I had committed some sort of fraud, and I needed to call them immediately as they were criminally investigating me through the criminal investigation department. The only thing I could think of was maybe it was my credit card company calling because my account had been stolen again. It was not.
I came across this site after I googled the number. I called my mom, who is in law enforcement, and she told me if I was upset about it to call my local police and see what they say, but that they were aware of this scam already. The caller DOES NOT have my info, and they were phishing for it. Nothing to be concerned with unless I gave them my info.
My wife received a call from them 04/05/2014 asking for me that their is an IRS case against me. Then they called after 9 a.m this morning 08/06/204 demanding my SS# and if I don't give it the sheriff will contact me and that I will be deported (US citizen here) because their is an IRS case against me. My niece immediately had me contact the IRS in New York state which led us to the federal IRS and then to the FTC complaint section to report it. The person wanted me to contact a Mr Jackson at that 202 number. They kept calling but I did not pick up.
Got an IRS scam call from this number (202-239-7184). Very aggressively tried to intimidate saying I owed $5684 in back taxes (from 2008 - 2011) and that the IRS had already determined that I intentionally tried to fraudulently get money from them. Read me a supposed Affidavit detailing my "crime". He said the IRS had already filed a criminal case against me, that the police would shortly be contacted and coming to my house to arrest me, and that the IRS was going to seize all my assets (home, car, bank accounts) and take away my license. When I asked why I didn't get something in the mail from the IRS, he said that they tried to deliver a notice to me twice (July 16 and July 28) but that no one was home to receive it (I happened to know that I, or someone in my family, was home on both of those days ... all day). He didn't have a good answer but told me he just needed to notify me of what was going to happen to me. Startled and troubled about what he said and puzzled about whether I had actually made a mistake on my returns, he went through a lengthy rant of form numbers I should have filed and codes that I had violated. He also had me stay on the line while he supposedly checked whether I had a criminal record. Finally, he said I "might" be able to avoid going to jail and defending myself in court IF I agreed to 1) immediately pay the full amount, 2) stay on the phone (wasn't allowed to get off and check this out), and 3) pay by a certified check or a Pay Pal Account. When I asked why I couldn't hang up and call back within an hour, he hung up. Thankfully, I didn't give any info. EVIL SCAM!!!
