Thanks immensely for your help! I was scammed once before and I just had a gut feeling THIS was another scam. I do owe money to a pay loan place BUT, these people contacted me via email and wrote all this BS about how they were going to summon me to court if I didn't reply and how they were going to inform my employer about my case pending with them. Also, looking back at the email conversations I had with one of these losers, the first email look legitimate b/c at the bottom it had what attorneys have as far stating like terms and conditions sort of thing. Plus, at no time did they state WHAT pay day loan place I owed money from or the amount I owed. The rest of the emails that were sent to me sounded idiotic! Long story short, I'm glad I didn't give them my hard earned money! I was a very close to doing it! Please do research like I have before you fall for something like this.

Thank you guys for your comments on this phone number. This guy with that same kind of accent called and said he would with cash net saying that I owed a debt with the cash loan place. I had a feeling it was a scam because he said if I didn't pay by Friday of last week that my case will be sent to court. Well I forgot to call him back on  Friday and called him on Monday. Then I got another email saying that this is my last chance well if my paperwork was going to go to the courts why was in an already sent to the courts and I got an email on Tuesday saying this was my last chance. So that led me to believe that this could possibly be a scam and so I googled the phone number and came upon this web  site. I'm glad I did because now I will put the member as well as report the emails that I have been getting SPM or a scam. In the email that had all of my personal information like my so security number my date of birth and some other things . That's why thought it could be true but I have paid off some of the lines that I had before in the past and I have gotten letters before. These comments really help give me peace and justify the way I was really feeling I would advise nobody else to do this and try to warn all of my friends about this call and emails this helped a lot thank you guys have a good day .

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS.  Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):
