I just got this call today and the caller ID was unknown but left the 202-241-0262 #. I called back from my work line and the call was picked up but no one said anything. I didn't call from my mobile because I was afraid it would be traced.
Did you hear of anyone filing a report?
Got a BS call from a Spencer (Indian accent) claiming to be IRS and told me to get a paper and pencil, then passed the phone to a 'Carol' giving case number and then back to the caller who told me to note his bar ID etc. about my supposed 'Tax crime'. I told him this sounded bogus. He said 'Ok buddy' and ended the call.
Called the number back and same voice responds as 'Legal Dept' - when asked which org, only then said IRS
Today 1/24/14 at 8:00am a man named John Hazelwood called from 202-241-0262 stating I have been accused by IRS
that I have not paid by 2008 tax and sending money to India. He said I need to solve this problem ASAP or else you will be sent to jail or perhaps deported to your country. Little does he know I am a US Citizen and have paid by taxes on time.
He is accusing me of fraud. He has made several calls again stating the above and said my conversation with him is being recorded. Called back same person answers without any business name when asked he said Legal Dept-IRS/Immigration.
