I got a call from this number on Friday 8/26/2014 and heard a recorded message from Julie at the IRS claiming that they were going to take "action" on late taxes if I did not call back immediately. I could not make the call back since I was traveling and I did not have access to my records. I tried to call the number back today (9/3/2014) and I got a message saying this "Magic Jack" phone number was no longer in service and it gave me info on who to call to buy a Magic Jack phone. I then called the IRS at a different phone number and I was told that the IRS would never call anyone and leave such a message (she said they would have sent the information via mail) and that the call was from a scammer (I had no back taxes due). I was asked by the REAL AGENT AT THE IRS to go to www.tigta.gov and click "IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting" and make a report of the scam, which I am about to go and do. It is the site of the U.S. Treasury Inspector General.
I just checked my voicemail and I got this call yesterday morning around 11:00am. It was a womans voice saying that they were the IRS and to call them back immediately to prevent further action from being taken. And DO NOT AVOID calling them back or something to that effect. Kinda freaked me out, so I googled the number (202-241-1169) and thats how I ended up here. I guess im GLAD is a scam and not really the IRS........LOL!! Thanks everyone for posting! =)

I received a recorded call from this number on 8/26/2014 from IRS Officer Julie Smith requesting that either my attorney of record or me to return the call, that the matter was time sensitive and they would take action against me. I, again, received a recorded call from man with a hispanic name on 9/22/14 saying this was my second notice, not to ignore it, and action would be taken against me. I did think that he said he was with the Treasury Dept. rather than the IRS. I tried to return the call and got to a message from Magic Jack that the number had not been set up to accept calls.
