We received the same this this morning...a call saying that there has been and arrest warrant issued for my husband...again a caller with a heavy accent, saying he was the supervisor when I asked. He said his name was Ronald Arthur from the crime investigation division of the IRS and they had sent a letter in December and one in February about taxes we owe. We have our taxes done professionally every year. He said we owe $2965 from 2012 and that if we want to avoid lawyer and court fees, the government would like that too and so he can send a local law enforcement officer and two other people (I forget who he said...) and they would come to my house and we need to be ready to give them the money. I called our CPA and he said it's scam but now there's a twist that someone will come to the house. Very scary!!!
Got this call yesterday looking for my daughter. They stated they had a warrant for her arrest for Tax Evasion. I was hysterical myself. First she does not live with me, second she received a refund this year for overpayment. I told the caller "You're the IRS so you should know where she is, go arrest her".
I relieved a call from 202 241 1305 . The caller said something about a tax fraud and an arrest warrant. He had a heavy accent. I tried to get his badge number and asked for his supervisor that when he handed up on me.
My phone rang several times and a message was left. The first part of the message was hard to understand, but I did hear my full name in it. The second half of the message said that an arrest warrant was issued against me and that I needed to call 202 241-1305. This is a scam! Don't call this number - call the police. Hopefully no one falls for this scam. They try to scare you by saying your name and the word "ARREST" and then they probably want your credit card. The man had a middle eastern accent. The area code 202 is long distance - Washington D.C. Trust me, if there was an arrest warrant issued for your arrest - the police would be at your door already. Peace everyone.
Got the same phone call twice during same day. Listened to the message, barely made out what they spoke. Called the # just for kicks, through a long distance provider, so they don't know who's calling. To my surprise, the robot replied and the recorded message sounded arabic/israeli kind of language. Case closed ! (unfortunately local police cannot/do not do much about it).
I just had this call and they are Indian accent, and I made them laugh there [***] off playing along with them. He said you will be arrested and I replied thanks for the heads up , but here in the USA the sherif knocks on the door with the warrant , and then I said come on ask me for a credit card or bank account number smart [***], and they couldn't get nothing out if me but laughs and giggles and they hung up - its a scam for the elderly or immigrants that will fall for this.
