Office John White gets around, his new number is a San Antonio number 210-418-4651 - perhaps he transferred.
Similar story to everyone else - he calls, leaves a message barely understandable with a strong Indian Accent saying he's from IRS Tax "Crime" Investigations.
Called him back, he only got my name partially correct (I have 4 names, he only had two) which means he obviously does not have my IRS records in front of him.
Called him back twice, he answered the second time but seemed to be caught off guard and seemed flustered. Put me on hold and never came back. I called him back twice and went right to voicemail. I plan to call John back periodically just to check in and leave long silent messages for him to review.
"Officer John White" (Wright? Voight? heavy accent) called to tell me there was a warrant for my arrest based on my address, to call this 202 number. He left 2 messages. I spaced and tried to call, but I got dead air. Then I remembered this scam: 202 area code (Washington DC), "officer" not "agent", wrong number of digits in badge number (if given). I am trying to remember the report procedure, but I will call the IRS on Monday to find out and lodge a formal complaint.
This guy threatens people by saying that IRS has issued a warrent for your arrest. and you need to pay them money right away. These people are scaring people and scamming people!!!
Got a call from 202-241-2308 and a message on my home phone. Accent was Indian. He said he was from the Tax Crime Investigation Department of the IRS, and the IRS had issued an arrest warrant for me. Also said that my physical address was under investigation. Said I should call back. Right Sure. Hope others don't get scared easily!!
Agent Mike, who sounded like he was calling from a sweatshop, from the IRS called & asked to speak to my husband. He mispronounced his 1st name, but he had his last name & our home address. He claimed my hub had an arrest warrant for tax evasion. I said, I do our taxes, what are you calling for? He wouldn't give me info, & said "why he no pay taxes?" I said I prepare our taxes, what do you want? He said have XX call us. I said, sure, I will have the DOJ call you back & hu.
