I also got a call from the same number on the same day at 2:42pm. The caller made the same statements to me as he did to you. The only difference is he just referred to us as recipients of the call. I called my tax preparer who informed me that it's a scam artist and to simply hang up on him if he calls back. I tried to return his call, just out of curiosity, and got a voice mail that was set up to sound legitimate. Clever people!!! WOW!
I received phone calls from this number on November 20th and 26th. The caller claimed to be IRS agent Mike Davis and threatened to have me arrested that night if I did not come up with 1500 immediately for supposedly cheating on my 1040 forms. Then he told me not to involve a third party as the information had not been made public yet but that I would be receiving a call from the local police department to let me know what was going to happen next. Bad thing was, a call was rerouted that had the local police department's dispatch number on it to try to make the whole thing seem legit.
Have been called twice from this number 202-241-3586 and told us we were being audited. I tried to get info but he wanted to talk to my husband. I called my husband and he called. He immediately knew it was a scam. He kept asking the guy, "Mike Davis", where he was from and he kept transferring my husband. Finally, the third time he was transferred he told the guy that he knew this was a scam and that he was going to report him and the phone number. The guy hung up on my husband. The next day we got another message from these people and my husband had to go through the same stuff. I want these people reported and found. Nothing better to do but try to scam people out of their money! Really! Get a real job.
