My got a call from 202-241-4007. caller is male and foreign accent. he said my wife filled up wrong on her tax return and she should call 202-241-4007. this number was called to my partner phone on Thursday and threatening his wife by saying he is from IRS and she should pay $3500 otherwise she will go to jail. the amazing thing is he called to my phone the same number and he asked my wife to call back the same number. He is a scam. who should i call to report?
This is a fresh scam. Received a voicemail from someone using AT&T TrueVoice using an American female voice asking for me to call back regarding a debt owed on back taxes to the IRS. Looked up the information traced back to the #, and came up with a latitude / longitude location that has no valid reference to the IRS HQ. Called the number, detected an abnormally long pause and drop in the rings, and then a sluggish individual on the other end with a foreign accent misidentified their location. Advised them I was contacting my state AG's office immediately regarding the matter.
IRS never gives direct dial phone numbers unless an agent hands you their business card (which is very rare unless you have received formal audit notice in the mail & you have reported directly to your local agent to respond to the request). This is a fresh scam.
Got the same call also. Foreign accent. Threatening all kinds of things, asset seizure, foreclosure, arrest, etc. It sounded like a call center. I heard another person in the background on another call say, "and if you just wire transfer money to this account...".
Told the caller to send everything in writing, as that is what the IRS does and hung up.
I WAS CALLED AND ASKED TO RETURN THE CALL BECAUSE IF DIDNT I WOULD BE IN TROUBLE WITH THE IRS. KNOWING IT IS FALSE. I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH A INDIAN ACCENTED MALE AND TOLD HIM HE WAS NOT WHO HE CLAIMED (AN OFFICER). I TOLD HIM HE WAS GOING TO PRISON FOR IMPERSONATING THE PO PO. HE HUNG UP ON ME. TRIED TO CALL BACK AND GOT NO ANSWER. YOU HAVE TO LAUGH AT THEIR STUPIDITY. I DONT TRUST ANYONE OVER THE PHONE, I DONT KNOW.

Demanded us call back, had a foreign name, and threatened with law allegation, but my parents are asian so they almost called them back. i told them to wait so i decided to check the number online, and the caller ID, and here i am posting this. I believe that if u call they have a better chance tracking you down, so then you end up being in big trouble. They said that she was an officer, and call back at these hotlines, and they ended with "-goodbye, and take care."So if you ever get another call like this, check the caller ID first.
