The callers report themselves as IRS representatives and claim there is a Criminal Law Suit against me. The caller has a string Indian Accent and there is a lot of static and noise in the back ground. They claim to have my address (which was completely wrong). They said I owe $3000 and if I didn't make arrangements to pay, there would be a warrant for my arrest issued at the address on file (which I looked up and found that it does not exist). Now, im working to help get them arrested. The IRS is not familiar with the number. AT&T has reported that this is not a land line, therefor it must be a cell number, and has said that it could be a call from another country coming from a prepay cell phone purchased in Washington DC. AT&T has instructed me to report this to the Fedal Trade Commission (FTC) at 1877.382.4357. The FTC took the report and instructed me to also file the complaint with the Local Attorney Generals Office in my state.
There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.
